A Peek into Future Flying with Finnair

Will we be flying faster than sound in 2093? Will aircraft look like flying saucers? Will they need fuel and produce emissions? And what about space, will we have business and leisure flights there? Finnair's SVP Public Affairs & Corporate Communications Christer Haglund who was in Shanghai this week share some of this ideas with interested media and business friends.

In the book Departure 2093 - Five visions of future flying which Haglund focuses on, Finnair enlists the aid of experts to highlight perspectives that are both essential and fascinating when addressing the future of air travel. Professor Sirkka Heinonen, a future researcher, and Pascal Huet, who is responsible for strategy at Airbus, consider the future and growth of air travel from the perspective of human movement. Professor of Environmental Change Atte Korhola and IATA's Director of Aviation Environment Paul Steele, on the other hand, shed light on the environmental impact of flying.

汉兰德先生着重与大家分享了《2093年的起飞 – 未来飞行的五种构想》这本书。芬兰航空在专家的帮助下，突出了关于未来航空旅行关键而令人振奋的特点。未来学家Sirkka Heinonen教授，以及空中客车发展战略负责人Pascal Huet从人类的角度看待未来的航空旅行，而钻研环境变化的Atte Korhola教授和国际航空运输协会的航空环境总监Paul Steele则更为关注航空对环境的影响。

The discussion of the futurehas attracted over 14,000 voters in a competition launched in March online, people had to opportunity to vote on which aircraft of the future was the most captivating and to present their own visions of what the flying of the future might be like.

The justifications varied from visual impact to flying comfort, when people voted on which of the Kauko Helavuo-drawn aircraft was the most captivating. The aircraft were rated according to their spaciousness and entertainment possibilities as well as their surprising and fun designs. The aircraft’s aerodynamic qualities and environmental friendliness were also addressed by those who entered the competition. The wing-shaped Finnair A600-850, intended for short-haul routes, was voted the most enchanting design.
